The master bedroom in our home is 23' 3" wide x 15' 6" long with 8' ceilings, 8' 5" in the middle. No, it is not a trailer.
Use this site to figure square footage.

So, roughly, we're talking about a big room, less one doorway. One door has been papered. (Never used) Thus far I
have used four one gallon buckets of wallpaper paste and two cans of Draw Tite. Yep, Bonnye was right! You'll use twice as much paste as
you do primer / sealer.

Total cost thus far: $395.02

  • 9 gallons of Roman's Golden Harvest GH-34 wallpaper paste - 109.79
  • Four rolls of Finish Factor Standard Contractor's Paper - 42.40
  • Three cans of Scotch Paint Draw Tite Clear No Run primer / sealer - 97.16
  • One 5 gallon bucket of Draw Tite Clear No Run primer / sealer - $145.67
A word to the wise - Safe and Simple offers a five gallon bucket for $145.67
which includes shipping. (29.13 per gallon). I gave in and purchased a five gallon bucket, saving $16.28 and gas, time & travel.
Total spent for primer and sealer? 242.83.

So there you have it. As of today, I've spent a total of $395.02 on the bedroom.

Is it too much? Is that dirt cheap? You be the judge. Thus far, the bedroom looks fabulous. Hubby hasn't the time nor the inclination to
fix the flaws, so I've chosen to cover them up. If 395.02 is all it takes to make me happy, he's happy. If gluing dryer lint to the walls
would shut me up, he would be all for it. So you see, with an easy going hubby, damaged walls and a burning desire to look at something
other than nail holes, spider webs, crooked sheetrock seams and dings, $395.02 is but a blip on the screen.

Consider the size of the room and the fact that previously we had what amounts to basic sheetrock with mud speckles and a coat of paint.
Think about what our walls looked like previously. The cost of a sander, paper, masks, sheetrock and more would add up to a lot more,
and it wouldn't even include the cost of paint, putting me right back where I started.

Also consider this, the entire amount need not be forked over at once. Because I don't have time to work on the room every day, I buy a
can of paste here, a roll of paper there. It's not like you have to fill your shopping cart all at once, unless you are just equipped with
the funds. I later came into a little extra money, purchasing a five gallon bucket - which saved

Hmm. Seems it is not working in Firefox. Give me some time, I'll figure it out.

JUST A FEW REASONS WHY WE CHOSE BROWNBAGGING:
This would be the ceiling Seams, seams, everywhere, very visible Laying in bed, seeing this...need I say more? A shot of the ceiling after the house shifted Mud and tape, I hate it, I hate it, I hate it. Did I mention I hate mud and tape? Improperly cut doors, no door frames, cracking walls. Ugh!

    SUPPLIES NECESSARY FOR THIS TECHNIQUE:

    PAPER PREPARATION:

PRIMER, PAPER AND SEALER APPLICATION. CURING AND DRY EXAMPLES:

Ceiling sections have been primed with Draw Tite. Next, paper is applied with paste, primer is applied, drying, then dried.

Guess what? I have since finished the bedroom, headed down the hall and decided
to keep on going right into the living room! Stay tuned!
