FULL SUN / PART SUN / LOCATION
Provided for you by Wuv'n Acres©

Hollyhocks, at least in our part of the country, prefer full sun or just a dapple of shade.
I have found that my plants in the full sun bloomed earlier and taller while those with a bit of shade bloomed longer.

They are a tough plant considered an annual in some areas, but a wonderful self-seeding one at that!

Please note that unless you have a miniature hollyhock, (not a true hollyhock, but actually a Mallow...) you may not get blooms the first year. You will, however, grow attractive foliage while your hock is busy building it's extensive root systems which will hold those towering stalks of gorgeous flowers! Patience will be well more than rewarded. And for those who live in a higher elevation, hollyhocks perform quite well provided they are given sufficient light. This is why you should plant them very early in the spring or in early fall.
