Welcome to PASSION ALLEY©...
a special section of Wuv'n Acres

PASSION FLOWER / MAYPOP Passiflora incarnata 20+ seeds - $2.50. What an amazing bloom. You'll want to visit our Passion Flower Page for many more pictures and loads of information. Absolutely amazing flower is so bizarre you'll think it's artificial, but oh no, it's quite real, and quite fragrant! Bring on the bees with this one. The fragrance and the blooms...I can't decide which wins. Requires stratification, but easily accomplished by keeping the seeds in the refrigerator until spring or planting in the fall in warmer zones. Give it full sun and regular well-drained water for a perennial show your neighbor's can't beat.

What is a Passion Vine?
It is a deciduous and very fast growing temperate perennial vine with the most beautiful flowers you've ever seen.
Sporting tendril covered vines up to twelve foot long,
it holds on tight and exhibits a scent you will never forget.

An added bonus to growing this plant
are the beautiful butterflies your neighbor will see in your garden
including the Gray Hairstreak.

In varied shades of lavendar and white, there are ten sepals, or petals.
The corona, or zig-zagged frilly edge, is a sight to see.
Though native to the southeastern region of the United States,
Passion Vine, also known as Maypop, Passion Flower and Apricot Vine.
This beauty prefers to be in full or mostly full sun.
A trellis is much appreciated for it's climbing and twisting tendencies.

Our seeds are cold stored after harvest to ensure better germination rates.

The annual frost will kill it back to the ground, but have no fear,
if you are in zones 6-9 it will gladly appear next spring.

There is more to learn about passiflora other than it's beauty.
The name has quite a story behind it.

For those with religion, you might find it interesting to know that
it's common and Latin name have much the same meaning pertaining to the Passion of Christ.
The translation derives from flos passionis, given to the plant to represent a symbol of religion.
Often thought to symbolize crucifixion, three styles above the stigma represent the three nails which held Christ to the cross.
The ten sepals, or petals are thought to represent the ten apostles at the Crucifixion
